The photos on the following pages are a random selection from a project I started in 1999 to visually document Seattle in order to show future generations what Seattle looked like at the turn of the millennium. Approximately four photos were taken within every square mile of Seattle over the time period from June 1999 to January 2003. All the digitized images (approximately 1200) are currently in the Museum of History & Industry.
All of the photos are numbered by "block number" as shown on the maps below. For example: Photo 35w4 is in block 34 while w4 is a photo identification key. There are approximately 21/2 blocks per square mile.
